About Us
Ahilya Bai college of Nursing (ABCON) is established by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Govt of Delhi with the aim to to achieve Quality in Nursing Education. The ABCON is situated in MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College) Campus of central Delhi and it is the core part of Lok Nayak Hospital.
Nursing course offered by the Ahilya Bai College of Nursing is affiliated from University of Delhi and complies with INC and DNC norms.
The Ahilya Bai college of Nursing offering B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing course which have four academic years, inclusive of internship. The Four Academic year is further divided into 8 semesters. The purpose of the course is to assist the students to become a professional Nurse who is committed to the promotion of health, prevention of disease, care and rehabilitation of the clients. The college provides opportunities for the student to integrate and utilize knowledge, understanding and skills from the various bio-psycho-social fields of learning necessary in the practice of nursing. The curriculum has been planned to provide breadth of knowledge to enable the programme to function effectively in varied nursing situations where the nurse will work as a member of health team for group of patients, families and community at various levels in urban as well as in rural areas.
AHILYA BAI COLLEGE OF NURSING having affiliated hospital for imparting practical training i.e. Lok Nayak Hospital (Formerly known as Irwin Hospital) with 2053 beds, Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital with 735 beds and Guru Nanak Eye Centre 212 beds respectively.
The college is also in process of being established as centre for National midwifery training Institute (NMTI) for Nurses by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The college is also recognized as a programme study centre by IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) for conducting post basic B.Sc. Nursing Course.
